‘Tis the season | Happy holidays

December 7, 2022

As we approach closer to the festive season, we’re diving through the decades of our 107 year legacy to get in the holiday spirit. Join us as we explore the most cheerful projects we had the joy of working on across our studios.

Technicolor Creative Studios

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 American stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film directed by Henry Selick and produced and conceived by Tim Burton with Prints by Technicolor. It tells the story of Jack Skellington, the King of “Halloween Town”, who stumbles upon “Christmas Town” and schemes to take over the holiday.

The Terminal (2004)

This American comedy-drama film produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The film is about a man who gets stranded at an airport when a war rages in his country. He is forced by the officials to stay at the airport until his original identity is confirmed. Digital intermediate by Technicolor.

MPC

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)

As lead vendor on the holiday extravaganza, MPC Film did 1000 of the feature’s 1150 shots. The huge amount of visual effects ranged from main characters to environments, set extensions, and fully CG backgrounds – pretty much everything inside and outside the fantastical worlds of The Four Realms, including buildings and flowers, rivers and windmills, even the ground the characters walk on.

The Call of The Wild (2020)

Adapted from Jack London’s beloved literary classic, The Call Of The Wild vividly tells the story of a big-hearted dog named Buck, and John Thornton (Harrison Ford), the man Buck must learn to trust. Visual effects and additional previsualization by MPC

The Mill

Louis Vuitton holiday campaign (2022)

Our artists at The Mill Paris were tasked with the animation of the bear and the character of Vivienne in the luxury fashion brand’s festive film, directed by Gary Freedman (La Pac). Alain Boutillier, VFX Supervisor and Vincent Coni, CG Supervisor offer more insights into the project here.

A holiday ad for PepsiCo. (2022)

Set to Hall & Oates’ iconic and catchy “You Make My Dreams Come True”, the festive film follows a group of snow friends – Chip, Sleet, Ava, Slush and Flurry – as they celebrate the holiday season. The charming spot is graded by Head of Colour Los Angeles, Paul Yacono. Discover more about this ad here.

We’d like to say a big thank you to each and every one of our team members and clients who continue to make the work we do possible.
