Ozi, Voice of the Forest Captivates Audiences at Annecy Film Festival

July 5, 2023

Mikros Animation created a huge splash at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival with a special screening of “Ozi, Voice of the Forest,” an animated feature that highlights the threats that our planet’s rainforests face due to rising levels of deforestation, as well as its consequences for its ecosystems.

Supported by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions and multi-Academy-Award-winning producer Mike Medavoy, the animated film follows the journey of Ozi- a young and courageous orangutan, as she embarks on a quest for the safety of her home. With her ability to communicate with plants and animals, Ozi serves as an inspiration for those living in the forest to resist encroachment.

Besides highlighting the natural beauty of the world, this animated film conveys an important message regarding conservation and coexistence between humans and the environment. “Annecy 2023 was indeed a victory lap for Mikros animation. I dont think theres another studio in which had so much of visual treat to offer to the world in one year,” says Manoj Menon, Creative Director at Mikros Animation.

Watching the screening of ‘Ozi: Voice of the Forest’ at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival was an unforgettable experience. This underscored to all of us the profound impact that animation can have on both individuals and society. The festival was an incredible opportunity for artists, storytellers, and visionaries to share their work and celebrate animation’s boundless possibilities,” said Leon Christian, Head of Creative – Operations Management, Mikros Animation.

The only thing I would say is that Ozi has a very special place in our hearts as it was our (Bangalore) first full-length feature and looked fabulous on the big screen. At the same time Annecy revealed new opportunities and possibilities for Mikros in the coming years.
