Inside Scoop | 15 for 15 with Anju Dev, Surfacing Supervisor

September 15, 2023

In this edition of Inside Scoop, we are pleased to feature Anju Dev, a dedicated member of the Mikros Animation team for over 15 years. This article offers insight into Anju’s remarkable career highlights, the motivations that fuel her journey, the valuable lessons she’s learned from her extensive project involvement, and her sincere enthusiasm for her career:

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

If I could advise my younger self, I would emphasize the importance of enjoying my work and dedicating myself to it. Confidence should take precedence over concerns about other people’s opinions. Prioritizing skill development, smart and hard work, and surrounding oneself with the right people are vital. Learning the art of letting go, making necessary changes without hesitation, and embracing the present moment are key life lessons.

What’s that one thing that you can’t live without?

It would be impossible for me to live without the love and support of my husband, my precious baby boy, and my parents.

Your career highlight to date?

Celebrating a remarkable 15-year journey with Technicolor has been one of the highlights of my career to date.

How did you get into the industry?

My entry into the industry can be traced back to my artistic roots. Although I initially considered pursuing a career in architecture or engineering, my passion for art ultimately led me to pursue a career in animation. It was my lifelong fascination with drawing and painting that led me to pursue a degree in Fine Arts, which served as a stepping stone to my career as a texture artist. It was my father who played a pivotal role in supporting my decision, and I have been inspired by mentors and peers since my college years.

What would your DREAM project involve?

My dream project would involve creating realistic human characters, captivating creatures, and immersive environments.

What’s the best thing about the Mikros’s culture?

The standout feature of Mikros’s culture is its work flexibility. We have an incredibly supportive senior team that fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. At Mikros, everyone is given the opportunity to learn and excel, with a strong commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity.

Your biggest achievement so far?

I consider working on the movie project “Orion and the Dark” to be one of my greatest accomplishments.

Share something you learned this week?

This week, I embarked on a journey to master a new 3D software and explored the world of boxing workouts.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best aspect of my job is twofold: I get to pursue my passion, and from day one, I have had the privilege of working on projects for renowned international clients. Each project has been a unique learning experience.

If you weren’t in this role, what would you be doing?

If I weren’t in my current role, I would have pursued a career as an architect.

What can’t you put down? (book, program, app, podcast)

The one thing I can’t resist is the Pinterest app, a treasure trove of creative ideas.

Any recent personal goals?

My recent personal goal centres on health and transforming into a healthier, stronger version of myself.

Tell us a humble brag

Regardless of the challenges, I pursue my goals relentlessly and take ownership of them.

What would your one superpower be?

My dream superpower would be to be able to magically transform my art into reality and experience it directly.

When you’re not working on a project, you can be found…

When I am not working on projects, you can find me painting with my trusty paint and brushes, tending to my garden, dancing to my favourite tunes, or exploring new destinations.
