MPC and Technicolor Creative Studios showcased VFX talent at its best during the VAM Summit and Awards on 23rd and 24th March in Mumbai.
“Meet the Makers of Bhediya” was a fantastic panel discussion with special guest, Amar Kaushik, Director – Bhediya and MPC India’s Kiran Kumar V – Head of Creative Operation, Nimish Narendra Shah – Head of Production, Mangesh Kushaba Awate- CG Supervisor, and moderated by RK Chand, previously Executive Producer at MPC on the film. They discussed the creative process, the partnership between Maddock Films and MPC, and shared a VFX Breakdown of Bhediya. The MPC team was praised for their collaborative approach and their ability to create stunning visual effects that matched the director’s creative vision.
Biren Ghose, Country Head, Technicolor India, was a panelist on the discussion “Front-to-End Development in India”, with Ashish Kulkarni, moderated by Jesh Krishna Murthy. Biren shared his insights into India’s transition to become a front-end development hub and how Technicolor India is growing as a Global Capability Center within the VFX and Animation industry.
A celebratory evening ensued on Day 1 of VAM, with the MPC team picking up two awards at the VAM Awards for the iconic work they did on Bhediya, a Maddock Films production.
Day 2 featured Amit Kumar Sharma, Head of 3D DMP at MPC India conducting a masterclass on Digital Matte Painting where he did a deep-dive into the skills and techniques involved in creating realistic backgrounds for live-action films, essentially bridging the gap between synthetic and photoreal.
MPC’s success at the VAM Summit and Awards highlights the importance of collaboration and innovation in the film industry. With talented professionals and cutting-edge technology, India has the potential to become a hub for both front-end development and VFX work.
