Inside Technicolor | Angelo Ferrugia EVP, Global Director, Creative Production at The Mill

July 27, 2022

Hear from our teams on how they got into the industry and what it’s like to be a part of Technicolor. Angelo Ferrugia gives us an insight into his role as EVP, Global Director, Creative Production at The Mill.

Tell us about your favorite project from The Mill & why you’ve chosen it?

The Jedi Fall Order 2 cinematic work that Roberti Sethi just directed with Respawn Entertainment, EA and Lucas Films showcases the premium quality work of the Mill. Working on such famous and highly visible IP that is coveted by artists and fans is a testament that we have some of the top-tier talent in the business.

Why did you get into the visual effects industry?

Working at the Mill/Technicolor Creative Studios and helping establish and build the Creative Production division within a Creative Technology company, humbles me. It takes two disciplines (Creative and Technology) that I respect and love to create magic. Only a handful of people currently understand this craft and are proficient and that excites me every day.

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

Trust your gut and always thank God for your blessing. It’s not about me, it’s about we.

What excited you the most about working at Technicolor Creative Studios?

The talent. We have the largest and most skilled artists in the business around the world, who are continuously striving to be the best. The culture here is not about resting on our laurels but everyday striving to do and be better and pushing the creative and technological envelope.

Are there any trends in the industry inspiring you right now?

Everything… Creative and Technology are becoming more intertwined. This to me is the trend. We will continue to see these disciplines blend.

What are your predictions for the world of VFX in 5 years?

In the next 5 years the business will continue to evolve, pipelines will pivot and ways of making will become faster and less bespoke. The tools and tech will be more robust.  That is my predication.
