2022 Rewind | A look back on the year

We would like to say a huge thank you to our clients and partners who continue to make the work we do possible, with a special mention to all the wonderful talent across Technicolor Creative Studios. Here are just a few highlights from the many incredible projects we have been a part of this year.

Technicolor Creative Studios

Early on in 2022, we released a five-day virtual festival ‘Beyond Imagination’ which focused on the future of virtual technology with leading industry partners and talent including Disney, Dreamworks, HBO, Epic Games, watch the videos here.

We hit a major milestone of becoming an independent business in September and celebrated with a 6-part YouTube series exploring our rich legacy in Visual Effects, and the future of creative visual arts. Watch the Our Legacy is Our Future series here.

We finished the year attending a number of events including Siggraph, VFX Summit, and the SMPTE Awards Gala where Mariana Acuna, Senior Vice President of Virtual Production presented the Natalie and Herbert T. Kalmus Medal sponosored by us. See what else happened across our studios here.

MPC

Elvis, NOPE, House of the Dragon, The Witcher and Wednesday are just a few highlights from MPC’s film and episodic projects this year.

The studio closed the year with a host of red-carpet activity, a seriously ambitious seasonal roundup, and a number of prestigious awards as Prehistoric Planet landed both a Televisual Bulldog and Broadcast Tech Innovation Award for VFX.

The Mill

This fall at The Mill we said hello to a brand-new studio in Seoul, a stunning portfolio of seasonal campaigns collaborating with Louis Vuitton, SKY, M&S and no less than 81 sensational awards from VES to Clio to D&AD this year. The Mill’s commitment to creating opportunity with a range of internships & apprenticeships continues to grow with multiple internship and talent partners from AMT Youth Programme to Access VFX. Mikros Animation

This past year Mikros Animation made their mark at several events from Annecy Festival to FMX, they saw a Golden Screen Award for PAW Patrol: The Movie and released an #OpenMik series spotlighting the talent behind their projects.

November was a milestone month for Mikros Animation, from showcasing at the Bengaluru Comic Con, to the TV premiere of the incredible Spongebob: Sponge on the run. Mikros has so much to celebrate, including the recent win of a Children’s Emmy for Star Trek: Prodigy.

Technicolor Games

Technicolor Games has celebrated a year of success, with art and animation support across the recent global releases of 2K’s NBA 2K23, EA’s FIFA 23 and Warner Brothers Gotham Knights. In July, they joined forces with Women in Games empowering girls and women in the global gaming ecosystem.

This December also saw NBA 2K23 and FIFA 23 going head to head in the eagerly anticipated Game Awards with both nominated for Best Sports Game of the Year!
