Dr. Kalmus and the longevity of Technicolor


Dr. Kalmus once said that "until a story has been filmed in Technicolor, it hasn't been told in color."

His words, obviously aimed at the decision-makers of the day, were also prophetic. Films made less than a decade earlier, processed by methods other than Technicolor’s dye transfer process, were beginning to fade, slowly turning red in studio vaults.
